WIC Coordinator

Location: O’Neill, Nebraska
Position: In office and off-site clinics in NCDHD district.
Status: Full Time, 32-40 hrs/week
North Central District Health Department (NCDHD) is seeking a compassionate and motivated Registered Dietitian, Nutritionist, Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team as a WIC Coordinator.
This position plays a vital role in improving the health of women, infants, and children throughout north central Nebraska by providing nutrition education, health screenings, breastfeeding support, care coordination, and connections to community resources.
Unlike traditional clinical positions, this role allows you to build long-term relationships with families while focusing on community health. Every day offers opportunities to improve maternal and child health through meaningful, one-on-one interactions and partnerships throughout rural Nebraska.

Essential WIC Coordinator Functions:
As our WIC Coordinator, you will work directly with families across our district by:
· Supervises daily functions of WIC clinic
· Performs role as WIC nutritionist, nurse and clerk
· Supports breastfeeding education and referrals
· Completes required health screenings and assessments
· Develop individualized nutritional care plans
· Connects families with healthcare providers and community resources
· Promotes healthy pregnancies, infant nutrition, and childhood development
· Maintains accurate documentation and ensuring compliance with USDA and Nebraska WIC Program Requirements
· Participate in outreach activities to increase awareness and access to WIC services throughout the district
· Assists with quality improvement initiatives, ongoing program development and reporting requirements
· Remains knowledgeable of WIC policies and procedures to ensure implementation at clinic level
Qualifications:
Registered Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse
· Current Nebraska RN or LPN license
Registered Dietician/Nutritionist
· Registered Dietician (RD/RDN) preferred, or bachelor’s or associate degree in nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health Nutrition, or related field that meets Nebraska WIC qualifications requirements.
