Full-Time Program Assistant Position
About the Department
North Central District Health Department’s Mission is “to promote and protect the health and wellness of our communities. NCDHD has a primary responsibility to help address the basic health and wellness of NCDHD residents. The department offers services in various capacities throughout our district.”
Position Summary: The Program Assistant will work in a variety of different programs that the Health Department offers. The focus of the position will be carrying out tasks that impact the daily operations with general duties that include answering phone calls, filing, data entry, media management, assistance with accreditation and quality improvement projects, and support program managers with day-to-day tasks.
NCDHD offers a unique benefit allowance that allows employees to use their stipend for various benefit options. Outside of the stipend, employees receive generous paid time off accruals. This position works Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm. Some circumstances may require travel and duties outside of normal business hours such as public events, public health emergencies and/or non-emergency meetings.

Essential Functions
· Work with program managers to ensure contractual agreements are met. This may include assistance with filing, paperwork, data compilation and attendance to conferences and trainings.
· Maintain office and program records, passwords, and accounts.
· Assist with day-to-day office activity and collaborate with Office Manager on time sensitive issues.
· Update and track ongoing media through several social media platforms that include NCDHD website and Facebook. Develop and submit public service announcements for NCDHDs programs through our partners at local radio and newspapers.
· Attend local expos, health fairs and farm and home shows with the ability to share information on services our department provides.
· Compliance with all policies and procedures
· Assisting with ongoing Accreditation work that includes performance management and quality improvement activities and sustain that culture.
· Active participation in assigned internal staff committees.
· Other duties assigned.

· Ability to communicate effectively and articulate both orally and in writing.
· Knowledge with computers and technology including Microsoft Office programs.
· Ability to organize tasks, recognize priorities and meet established deadlines.
· Ability to work independently and as a team member.
· Ability to be courteous and professional with co-workers and the public.
· Maintain confidentiality of all participant/client information and complies with North Central District Health Department’s confidentiality policy.
· Understanding of grants, grant writing and management preferred but not required.
· Ability to work well with diverse groups in the public sector and demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity.
· Bilingual (English/Spanish) verbal and written skills may be a benefit.
Education/Experience
· Associates or bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Business, or related field, preferred.
· Minimum two years’ experience in related field, preferred.
· Valid driver’s license.
Physical Requirements
· Prolonged periods sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
· Bending, lifting, or twisting on occasion.
· Occasional work in extreme heat or cold.
· Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs.
Special Conditions
· Evening and weekend hours may be required. Local travel within service area required. Occasional travel to other Nebraska communities for purposes of region-wide or statewide collaboration required. Access to personal transportation required.
