Job Description: The Operations Manager position is a leadership and support position for management and operation crew members of the plant. The primary goal is to provide detailed procedures, training, and operational expertise to operations. It is also essential to provide relief on a limited basis to the plant manager in his/her absence.
Responsibilities:
Plans, presents and incorporates operational training for production employees.
Conducts training of operators, supervisors, and new hires.
Develops and maintains tracking system for operational training and keeps accurate records of results.
Develops/ implements new hire training program.
Develops, reviews, and revises Standard Operating Procedure checklists on a periodic basis as required by plant management.
Incorporates hands on LOTO, first line break and other safety training including one-on-one employee training.
Provides back up to the Plant Manager and Supervisors as required which includes reporting, attending meetings, and ensuring that all reporting is accurate.
Leads and directs all aspects of the production functions including coordinating effective communication between departments.
Reviews and updates training manuals on a regular basis.
Reviews and updates SOP manual on a regular basis.
Provides training to all operations employees.
Develop, maintain, and post schedule for operations including tracking PTO and ensuring coverage.
Weekend on call rotation with Plant Manager.
Develop and implement operations spread sheets and logs required for the tracking of production and quality control throughout plant.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent with some secondary education experience in the Engineering field.
Ability to lift up to 60 pounds, bend, stoop and physically move throughout the plant including climbing stairs, ladders, etc.
Demonstrated ability to write SOPs in logical and chronological language/steps.
High level of organizational and decision-making skills.
Ability to communicate both verbally and in written format.
Has a solid understanding of ethanol production processes.
Has a general understanding of engineering practices and processes.
Experience in recordkeeping and reporting techniques.
Understanding of safety and environmental rules and practices.
Maintaining a thorough understanding of applicable regulatory requirements of FRA, TTB and state regulations.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Must be able to manage confined space entry, climb ladders and steps, lift up to 60 lbs, and work at heights.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
The employee is regularly exposed to dusty conditions.
The employee is regularly exposed to high noise environments.
The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather in all conditions.
The employee will regularly be exposed to chemicals used in the process.
