Full-Time Dental Health Coordinator
North Central District Health Department is hiring non-hygienist Dental Health Coordinator. This position is a full time, 40 hours per week employee. The position will receive full benefits.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Dental Health Coordinator organizes and coordinates the Oral Health Program’s operations and procedures. The coordinator ensures organizational effectiveness and efficiency based on dental health best practices.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise, oversee, and/or prepare oral health program activities, efforts and reports.
- Run and coordinate the school-based Miles of Smiles program.
- Work closely with schools to coordinate clinic dates.
- In coordination with a registered dental hygienist, provide preventative oral health services in schools, daycares and nursing homes.
- Orders oral health supplies.
- Maintains competency in oral health best practices and aligns NCDHDs dental health programs accordingly.
- Maintain electronic and paper filing systems.
- Maintain and utilize billing platforms to submit oral health services to insurance providers where applicable.
- Create promotional presentations and reports for the dental health program and provide them to funders.
- Ensure transfer and disposal of office records according to schedule.
- Remains knowledgeable in Medicaid and can support client questions.
- Work as a community health worker that helps connect clients to resources.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to communicate effectively and articulate both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of computers and technology including Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Ability to organize tasks, recognize priorities and meet established deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to be flexible and to multi-task.
- Ability to travel within the NCDHD service area routinely for clinics and educational services. Travel time may be outside of normal business hours.
- Ability to represent NCDHD in a professional manner when out in the community.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proactively communicate with supervisors and project leaders to assure progress toward desired outcomes.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS
- Oral health experience, preferred but not required.
- Experience with community planning, program development, implementation and evaluation preferred.
- Experience working well with diverse groups in the public sector and demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity.
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Education, Human Services, Social Services, Sciences, Health Care, Nursing or related field, preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a clean driving record.

NCDHD offers a unique benefit allowance that allows employees to use their stipend for various benefit options. Outside of the stipend, employees receive generous paid time off accruals. This position works Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm. Travel and duties outside of normal business hours are required.
