General Purpose and Scope of Position:

The Cover Crop Manager will provide leadership and strategic direction for the Ag Division’s cover crop business in order to enhance growth and profitability.  This position is responsible for identifying marketing needs including creating and executing tactical marketing plans.  The Cover Crop Manager will also act as a key contact for suppliers and provide financial analysis and metrics to assist in managing product lines and inventories.

Key Skills and Abilities include:

Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously
Cross-functional influence and engagement to collaborate to earn buy in to achieve success for the cover crop products
Have knowledge and an understanding of all aspects of crop production where conventional, Non-GMO corn, soybeans, and cover crops may be used
Understanding of the multiple channels that seed products reach the market as well as seed production practices
Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Bachelor’s degree or similar degree in Agriculture
Minimum of 5 years sales experience in selling seed or seed related products, preferable with an emphasis on cover crops

Specific Responsibilities include:

In cooperation with the Wilbur-Ellis Seed team members and key stakeholders, identify the current market, cultural, regulatory, and environmental trends to effectively develop and execute business and marketing strategies.
Learn and understand existing business and develop plans and actions for sales growth
Create new channels to develop cover crop business through internal and external networking contacts that lead to sales growth
Further, develop the cover crops brands by creating specific products that best suit internal and external needs while building brand loyalty that leads to repeat business
Develop a dependable and credible supply chain network to provide consistent quality products for the sales channels
Align with National Seed Agronomist on a demand plan annually that will provide the basis for supply chain activities while managing inventory to acceptable levels
Continually look for expansion opportunities internally and externally and develop strategies to capitalize on them
Build market and product knowledge through training and education activities for internal sales teams to further develop the cover crop expertise and agronomy skills of our employees
Communicate with Seed Team leadership about initiatives, objectives, strategies, and action plans to grow sales, enhance service, and create new products
Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhering to all company policies and procedures
Build an annual financial budget and be accountable to meet budget objectives
Travel required up to 50%
