Holt County Animal Shelter is a small non-profit dog shelter located in rural Nebraska. We are dedicated to providing a safe and caring environment for stray, surrendered and abandoned dogs. We believe every dog deserves the chance to be a loved and cherished companion. Our dedicated team is committed to making a difference in the lives of these animals while creating a positive impact in our community. We provide education, promote responsible pet ownership, and offer a clean, safe environment where people can connect with dogs and discover the joy of volunteering.

Bath Days: Holt County Animal Shelter continues to offer services for the public to bring their dogs in for bathing and nail trims. Please call ahead to schedule an appointment.
Boarding Information: Our dog boarding services are designed to give each dog personalized, one-on-one attention during their stay. Depending on your dog’s needs, they will enjoy daily walks, playtime in our large fenced yards, and quiet individual time with our staff in the office. All dogs are given multiple opportunities throughout the day to go outside for breaks, and for safety reasons, we typically do not allow unrelated boarders to play together.
All dogs must be up to date on vaccinations, including kennel cough, and vaccination records may be emailed directly from your veterinarian. We ask that you bring your dog’s regular food to help prevent stomach issues, and please let us know in advance if your dog requires routine medication so proper tracking can be arranged. Boarding drop-off and pick-up hours are 8:15–10:00 a.m. or 2:15–5:00 p.m. Day boarding is available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. for $15 per dog.
Boarding fees are:
$25 for one dog
$40 for two dogs sharing one kennel
$55 for three dogs sharing one kennel
Giant breed dogs (80 lbs. and over) are $35
