Job Summary:
The Prevention Coordinator is a public relations professional working within the North Central District Health Department to enhance community engagement and encourage partnerships that support public health initiatives of the full community. This role involves promoting the department’s mission, ensuring effective communication with diverse stakeholders, coordinating substance abuse prevention programs and education, addressing social determinates of health, and implementing strategies to increase public awareness of health-related programs and services. The coordinator will represent the department at coalitions, community meetings, trainings and events, ensuring the alignment of efforts to improve community health outcomes.
Duties & Responsibilities
-Oversee, coordinate, and prepare prevention program activities, initiatives, and reports to ensure effectiveness and alignment with organizational goals.
-Facilitate and lead coalition meetings with partners, encompassing all NCDHD programs and initiatives, while supporting Community Health Assessment efforts. With greater emphasis on health prevention and substance abuse programs to address district-wide priorities.
-Design, implement, and maintain both electronic and paper filing systems for efficient recordkeeping to ensure accurate accountability of activities and services.
-Coordinate and participate in community outreach events to raise awareness of key risk factors contributing to substance abuse by youth while ensuring grant strategies are implemented.
-Create and maintain strong relationships with local media outlets, community organizations, and key stakeholders to amplify public health messaging.
-Actively participate in internal staff committees, such as training, wellness and workforce development, contributing to the success of team initiatives and strategic plan.
