At the regular board meeting on October 5th, 2020 the Holt County Ag Society met to discuss bids submitted for a proposed concession stand and restroom project at the fairgrounds.  The Ag Society officially broke ground on October 14th, 2020 for a new 25 by 68-foot concession stand, restroom and ticket booth.

Five board members were present to kick off the start of the project.  The board had discussed at the regular meeting starting the project this fall with a tentative completion date of July 15th 2021.  The board has been using a structure built in the 1960’s as a food stand and have been discussing replacing this with a new building for over five years.  The public has repeatedly mentioned another restroom facility as a much-needed improvement for the fairgrounds.  With much planning, the board has approved plans to meet both needs and have storage, BBQ serving area and a ticket booth.

Groundwork will begin this fall and weather permitting construction may also be started this year.

The board is thankful for the grants that have been received to date including the Holt County Improvement Grant, Aksarben Grant, Farm Credit Services and TC Energy Donation along with other donations.  They are also thankful for the businesses who have pledged donations of labor and services for this project including Prouty Construction.  Businesses and individuals can contact the Holt County Ag Society if they would like to volunteer or donate.

The Ag Society will be accepting bids to run the new food stand for the 2021 year starting January 1, 2021.
